If you’re at a loss when it comes to oral hygiene for toddlers, then you have come to the right blog. Our dentist, Dr. William D. Steinhauer, is happy to discuss oral hygiene for toddlers so you can properly care for and clean your child’s smile. Oral hygiene is very important for the oral health, so it’s important to do all you can to clean your child’s teeth and gums regularly. To help you, our dentist would like to give you oral hygiene instructions, which are:
-Brush their teeth twice a day: As you brush, use a soft-bristled toothbrush and child-safe toothpaste. Your dentist will inform you on if your child is ready for fluoride toothpaste yet. Make sure to brush every morning and night and try to make oral hygiene fun so they are motivated to clean their smile.
-Floss their teeth once a day: Once your child turns 3 years old or once their teeth start fitting tightly together, it’s time to start flossing. As you floss, be gentle along the gums and use tools that are easier to maneuver around the smile.
-Bring them into our office: It’s best to bring them in for their checkups every six months. That way we can examine their smile, deeply clean their teeth and give you the oral hygiene tips and recommendations you need.
